Little cowboy park
This space was created with the children’s well-being in mind and has had around 1 million visitors in the last 10 years
One of the most important and most visited areas of the Parque do Peão, it is about 35 thousand m². The Little Cowboy Ranch has many attractions for children and family and has as its motto: Fun for Education. We Are Talking About the Little Cowboy Ranch.
The beginning of this space happened in 1987 with Mussa Calil Neto. He believed there was the need to build a space to promote fun for children and at the same time to continue the Brazilian country culture. For the first attempt a circus was mounted with children’s attractions to entertain the whole family.
The objectives of building this space grew and it became a reality in 1999 during José Mendes Santana´s (Mendão) administration and with Daniel Bampa as coordinator. Since then, this space, which welcomes around 70 thousand visitors every year during the 11 days of the event, presents special attractions to the young public and families.
The Little Cowboy Park is a small reproduction of the Parque do Peão with:
- Arena, where the junior and sheep riding is done;
- Berrantinho, a small version of the Berrantão where events such as the Mini Rodeo Queen and Little Cowboy Park Queen are done, young musical performers, dance groups and other cultural activities;
- Mini Farm, where kids learn the production process and names of plants that are kept in a mini green house and a Mini Zoo with exotic animals where they learn how to treat animals nicely;
- Little Cowboy Radio, where children can interact with the rodeo announcer.
Many other attractions such as horse cart rides and horse rides, dance presentations and Brazilian indian arts and crafts with the tribes present at the site such as the Pataxó Indians, a great space where the kids have contact with nature and the Brazilian country culture, the Little Cowboy Park has other attractions that bring entertainment and education to visitors like the Mini City in partnership with UNIFEB (Barretos Federal University) and the Highway Police, who teach basic traffic laws and the Brushdrome, where they learn mouth hygiene in a fun way with a volunteer dentist.
Structure and Security
Around 100 employees and 200 volunteers from the Human Promotion – Young Kids With a Mission, spread around the site guaranteeing peace and fun for all visitors. In addition to this, the Military Police, private security and a UNIMED unit are available to see to any medical occurrences, although fortunately neither have ever been used.
Alcoholic beverages are forbidden at the site. Due to all this practice, the Little Cowboy Ranch has a 96% approval rate by visitors.
Partnership and Godfather
The Savegnago Supermarket chain is the official sponsor of the Little Cowboy Ranch and also has the support of the sugar cane plant, Usina Guarani, as well as other partners such as the Minerva Abattoir and the soft drink Guaraná Antarctica.
Adriano Moraes, one of the greatest names in Brazilian rodeo, was invited in 2009 to be the Little Cowboy Ranch´s godfather. “We invited Adriano to be the Ranch´s godfather and he thought the idea was brilliant, it is a matter of great pride for us and a great incentive for children to count on a godfather of this level” says Beto Vicentini, current coordinator of the Ranch.
